Christmas, New Year's, Walking, so much more!!
Well first off happy New Year's everyone! January has flown by so fast it's crazy, looking at the blog I realize we haven't updated it in well over a month. I thought January was supposed to be a slow time of year! Let me see if I can remember what happened.
Edie enjoyed her first Christmas. It was also our first Christmas together in our new home. I don't think Edie quite understood what Christmas was all about - but she really enjoyed the wreath we hung over the fireplace. We'd walk with her into the family room and she squeal every time she saw it. She also really like the Christmas lights we hung up outside, watching them through the window and getting excited.
She came out to Zoo lights with her neighbour William, but wasn't terribly impressed, I think. Perhaps because it was so cold out.
At Christmas there was time for a quick visit with her Uncle Peter and Aunt Tracy, who were in town from out East. Then it was off for a busy week.
Christmas Eve in Edmonton. Edie took her first steps on Christmas Eve! She started off with one or two steps in between Jenn and myself. In the past month she's been getting stronger and better at it, and can now walk about 10 steps between the two of us!!
Christmas was a bit different than we all expected, the biggest present of all, a new cousin for Edie! Erin and Chris had a baby boy on the 28th, named Finley. We haven't met him yet but will this weekend!
After Christmas, we drove down to Medicine Hat for New Year's with Edie's Nana and Gigi. It was quite the tame New Year's. Edie didn't even make it to celebrate the countdown to midnight with us - and we celebrated east coast style! We were all in bed before midnight... Edie getting up at 5 or 6 every morning has really affected Jenn and my ability to stay up late and party.
All through January, Edie has been developing so fast. We think she had a growth spurt, because she seems a lot taller in the span of a week. She's crawling faster, climbing stairs like a maniac, babbling more. Today she pushed a toy over to the couch and used it as a step to get up on the couch. She's getting way smarter! All this movement has left us both tired though as we have to chase her around the house making sure she doesn't get into too much trouble.
We put her in daycare for her first day this week. We're planning on having her in two days a week, to give me a bit of time to do some work once Jenn goes back to work full time. She loved it there, played with everything, didn't cry at all. I think it was a lot harder for us, seeing her growing up and doing things on her own. I'm sure this is just the first of many bittersweet steps for us!!
I'll post a bunch of photos from the past month shortly...

Ah, new parents...so vulnerable and naive. Still so in love with their spawn. Well, here's to it lasting. As soon as the little "Toot" starts to REALLY talk, saying things such as: "I don't wanna"...and "No, YOU do it"..."wipe my bum"...etc, you'll change your dreamy tune!
