Passing Grass

We went for a stroll at Bowness Park on Saturday. It was one of those perfect Summer Afternoons - a slow breeze, a warm sun. We admired all the families out for picnics and various celebrations. It was so lovely to see all the children playing and people visiting and laughing. I was reminded of picnics at Kin Coulee when I was growing up and how much fun we used to have. Neil and I made plans for picnics and outings for the next 20 summers!

Edie sat and played on the grass while we were there. She pulled at it and loved running the sides of her feet over the new-found texture. She adores being outdoors ~ we hope she will enjoy the next 20 years of picnics!

Thursday oh Thursday!

This is the longest week this summer! Or at least it feels that way. We've had stuff going on every day. Adult grown-up things like education demos for the growth of Edie's neurological pathways and Life Insurance consultations for security if the unthinkable things happen. And things like work and meetings and tough stuff like helping out a friend who's in a custody battle over her son.

But we've had fun things too like walks with Edie and Marnie and William from next door. Also, jolly jumping with Edie while she babbles and screeches out her new sounds (watch for the soon to be released video!). Of course we can't forget the crabapple jelly making festivities or car buying fun, or dining room table shopping, or obsessively looking at Stickley morris chairs. Phew! I think there's more but it's getting to be a blur...

All in all you get the idea. But it is only Thursday and there's still Friday and Saturday left in the week!

I'm sure Edie is feeling the same way about this week. She's participated in almost all of our activities to the best of her little person ability. Each night she proves how tired it makes her by going to sleep instantly at bedtime and not making a peep until 6am.

She's such a wonderful girl. When it slows down a bit and we have a chance to think about only her, it makes me happy that the week seems long. We're stretching out each minute and every last one means more than we ever could have imagined before she arrived in our lives. What a miracle she is!

Mom!

Edie said her first word today, "Mum! mum mum mum"

Also, "bum, hum, um"

And only 3 days until cereal! Such a big girl.
