Doctor Appointment!

Edie had her 5 week check up today. She weighed in at 9lbs, so is steadily gaining weight. The doctor is very pleased with her progress and she's meeting all the milestones so far. She showed off how healthy her lungs are through the whole appointment, there are definitely no concerns on that front! :)

After we went to the appointment, we dropped her Dad back off and Edie and I ventured out to Winners to try and find a spring coat. We can chalk that one up as our first Mom and daughter shopping spree. Unfortunately there were no excellent finds and we came home empty handed - oh well, there's always next time!

P.S. Every baby needs a photo on a sheepskin rug!

5 Weeks Old Today!

It's hard to believe Edie's been out in the world for five weeks! Time certainly does fly.

There's not a lot to report - she's still sleeping lots and eating lots. What little free time she has left is spent fulfilling her curiousity about the world around her. Maybe she'll be an interior designer - she loves to stare at shelves, the beams on our ceiling, and now, the curtains. Yesterday we found her examining the details on the bathroom door. Who knows!

She also enjoys dancing quite a bit - it's one of the best ways to calm her down. That, and the sound of her mom laughing.

Other than that, not too much new. Edie's getting pretty pumped about going on a road trip this upcoming weekend, to visit her baba, (great) aunts and uncles, and her two young cousins!

Happy Easter! / Like a Weed / Great Baba's 90th Birthday

Happy Easter!

We just basically took it easy for a few days. Edie had lots of fun swinging in her swing while her parents made pysanka... (pysanky?). It was actually pretty fun and totally addictive. I had no idea they would take as long as they do. Well, I actually read it would take 3-5 hours per egg, but I just didn't believe it. Jenn's made them before though, so she knew how to do it... Then we went to Natalie and Ken's for Easter dinner.

Meanwhile, Edie seems to be growing like a weed. It seems like I changed her outfit and next thing I knew she hardly fit! She'll be one month old in two days - it's hard to believe that she can grow so fast.

We took her out to celebrate the birthday of the oldest member of Edie's family - her Great Baba, 90 years old yesterday. Edie's been really good at going out - she just slept through almost the whole thing!

We've 'misplaced' the card reader for our camera, so as soon as we find it, we'll update this post with some pics.

Getting bigger, getting stronger, getting smarter

Edie began mimicking expressions today. She'll stick her tongue out if you do... she'll learn how to smile and laugh soon.

She's also getting a lot stronger, she can lift up her head and turn it from side to side - and her focus is getting much sharper. She loves looking at faces, and absolutely loves the shelves in our living room.

We took her to the doc, where she was weighed in at a whopping 2 pound gain in the past couple of weeks. 2 pounds doesn't seem like a lot, (i've gained two pounds in a day!) but when you consider that's 33% of the weight that she was 3 weeks ago, it's a lot!!! I also think Edie was saying "hi" when I got home, but Jenn says I'm hearing things...

Edie's Nana and Gigi were in town for a visit, and were surprised to see how much she'd grown.

I've been out of the house working for the past two weeks; tomorrow is my last day of that contract. After that, it'll be nice to spend more time at home, watching her grow!

3 Weeks Old Today!

Edie is 3 weeks old today! She celebrated by having some time in her swing and grooving out to some excellent music.

Yesterday we went to the Critical Mass office to drop of thank-you cupcakes and introduce her to everyone. It was a big outing and Edie was tired out afterwards. She lost her mitt on the way home which resulted in her giving herself a little scratch on her face. Those little nails are lethal!

She is going to try her hand at making some Ukrainian Easter eggs tomorrow, so watch for the pics!

Edie has a BELLY BUTTON!

It's official! Edie Ryanne Devine's belly button made its first appearance! As of yesterday afternoon, to her father's surprise and glee whilst changing her diaper, Edie's little belly stump finally became a real belly button! After much deliberation we decided that it was best to throw away the the stump, so you will not be able to see it if you ask for evidence.

Other milestones include: lots of wiggling, first real spit up, and of course continuing to eat with absolute gusto.

At her insistence, we have agreed not to publish a photo of Edie's belly at this time (she is a modest girl). :o) However, you can see some new pics of tummy time and diving practice below.

Edie's Thursday Report

Edie had a busy day today, full of staring at the dark shelves on the wall and of course daddy's black glasses. She tired of three outfits (or I should say messed three outfits warranting early bathtime and changes!) She had her fill of snacks too. Not too much time for sleeping on days like this, hopefully this means there will be more sleeping tonight! We can only hope! :)

Here are a couple more pics for the photo-hungry relatives out there!

All About Edie

Hello!

We wanted to have a place to show Edie to the world, so we set up this blog. In the days and weeks to come (years?) you can check out what Edie's up to - we can post stories and photos. So bookmark this page, if you want to see what she's up to!
