Weddings, Lakes, Visits, Zoos, Shots and Markets
There's much ado since our last posting including trips to the lake and 4 month booster shots!
We got all dressed up on July 8th and headed out to a wedding. Dad looked very handsome all clean-shaven and crisp while Edie was an angel all dressed up in her white sundress and hat. She loved seeing all the people, refusing to rest until she just couldn't fend off sleep any longer, falling asleep in Mommy's arms.

We had our first week-long family vacation by the lake from July 9-16 (courtesy of her amazing great Auntie Jeannette and wonderful great Uncle Karl!) It was a very relaxing time during which she ate s'mores and took a cooling dip in the not-so-hot-tub (we turned the temp down the day before leaving so she could give it a try) Truthfully, she only watched mom and dad eat s'mores, but she really did pull on her swimmers and have dip! She loved splashing around before being hauled back into the shade to avoid sunburn!
This past week cousin Hudson, auntie Erin and Baba came for a holiday. We all went to the zoo and had a wonderful time visiting and playing. Edie sure loves playing with Hudson, he is so nice and grown-up, showing her his tractors and trains!

During their stay Edie had to go for her 4 month check-up. Not so fun! But other than the icky booster shots everything is great. She has mastered the 1,3 and 5s, coming in at a perfect 13.5 pounds and 25 inches! The nurse says she's exactly proportioned for her frame and her head is nice and round as it should be (despite the still remaining bald spot on the back!) All that eating and tummy-time play has paid off!
After her check up she was a bit sore but had two wonderful, long naps to ward off the grumpies. Once the long day was drawing to an end, she had a cool bath (IT'S BLASTING HOT in YYC) and we put her down for the night. Then...Baba babysat while we went to the movies!!!
It was so wonderful to go to the theatre to see a movie. We made it almost halfway through before I had to pull out the cell phone and hold it in my hand in case we didn't feel it vibrate if Baba called. The movie was good (the DaVinci Code) but the night out was great!! And little Edie slept right through. Baba's such a great babysitter! :)

The last morning here, we all headed to the Farmer's Market to check out some produce. There was so much to look at, it tired Edie right out! She had a snooze in her cuddly-wrap while we finished picking up some fresh berries and other goodies. Then we said our goodbyes and gave kisses to our visitors who were venturing to Cochrane for some McKay's ice-cream on their way home to Edmonton. It was a perfect visit and we all hope they come back soon!
ps. tho all these posts *say* they are written by Edie's loving father, if you've noticed changes in prose and style throughout the posts it's because her loving mother also makes updates. As a fun game you could try guessing who does each one when you check back each week!

While I still protest that my child is the most beautiful of all, I must say that yours gives mine a serious run for her money. She is SO beautiful. Neil, you're in BIG trouble buddy... beautiful AND advanced? ;)
